Homewood won the 2000 International Championship in Orlando, Fla. with a 44-38 title-game victory over the Chicago Washington Jaguars.

Vikings open 2008 season tryouts week of Dec. 16
  
  
Homewood Area Small Fry Basketball will kick off tryouts for the 2008 season with four December dates at Marian Catholic High School, Ashland Avenue and Joe Orr Road in Chicago Heights. Tryouts will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays, Dec. 16 and 23, as well as Wednesday, Dec. 19 and Thursday, Dec. 20.

   Candidates must be 5-foot-1 or shorter and may not be older than 12 as of Sept. 1, 2007. Homewood will offer both a varsity and developmental junior varsity squad, with the varsity squad hoping to qualify for the 40th International Tournament in Orlando, Fla. during the Easter break.

   Tryouts will continue in early January at the Homewood Village Auditorium, Chestnut Road and Dixie Highway, on Mondays and Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling Craig Andrichik at 815-478-4437, Walt Shipman at 312-608-3520 or Kevin Kelly at 708-957-3174.
